Fortunately or unfortunately we’re in the era of Oh, this old thing? It’s vintage.
There’s nothing more frustrating and yet appealing. Platforms like The RealReal, Poshmark, and eBay are no longer just shopping sites—they’re treasure troves.
They’re destinations for people who don’t mind spending hours browsing, waiting for the right item at the right price. The process is as exciting as the product itself. Sure, you can walk into a store and pick something off the rack. But where’s the thrill?
In a world of instant gratification, the hunt slows you down.
It forces you to dig deep, be patient, and work for it.
And that’s exactly why people love it.
A few years ago, I worked with 1stDibs on a branding assignment. And after weeks of consumer research we realized that the hunt wasn’t just a fun side effect—it was the essence of the entire vintage market. That’s what makes the search so addictive. It’s about the anticipation, the discovery, and satisfaction of finding the perfect item.
But it’s also more than that. It’s a cultural shift where authenticity and originality have taken the lead over the mass-produced Zara tops we all once drooled over.
Vintage has evolved from being something “old I found” to something rich with meaning. People aren’t simply collecting items—they’re curating stories, buying memories, and creating new ones. Years from now they’ll look back and think…
I found that. And I knew it was special.
Let’s be clear, though: resell and vintage cover a whole spectrum. Back home in Ohio, there’s a thrift store called The Village Discount—it’s endless rows of worn in coats, crewneck sweatshirts, sports jerseys, and home décor. It’s prime territory to get lost for hours, especially if you're determined to find something good (and trust me, it’s out there; I’m still living in the sweatshirts I scored there back in high school).
Then there are The Real Real, Depop, Vinted—the apps you turn to when you're hunting for vintage Manolo mules or a Khaite bag from 2022. It’s where you go when you’re craving a scroll that isn’t Instagram, but also a place that requires a degree in filter-science—something I really wish I’d studied.
And there’s the Tab Vintages and the Happy Isles of the world— the hot drops, the pieces you have to have. The it-girl destinations that I, too, visit and fall victim to especially when this 1996 jersey Gucci & this 90’s Valentino are out in the world.
While we’re at it, here are a few other Vintage dealers I love…
But then there are the true heavy-hitting historians. A good friend of mine opened a boutique on the Upper East Side last summer with such a minimal selection, it feels more like stumbling upon a secret room in The Met than browsing The Real Real store in SoHo.
It’s a space so expertly curated, your appointment will feel like stepping into a version of yourself from the 20s—an impossible place to leave empty-handed. (But more on her later as she’ll probably fall flat to be in the same post as the aforementioned players and her boutique is so special it deserves its own moment.)
Today, we’re diving into resell platforms with the true heirs of street style—the girls who make weekday dressing look so effortless, you'd swear they’re not on a first-name basis with Dani Michelle or Jamie Mizrahi. They’re the girls who know they’re getting dressed to hit the streets on their way to brunch on Sunday in the West Village.
But before we get into it, let’s talk about AI.
The bad news? It’s everywhere and it’s just warming up. Jump aboard.
The Good news? If we use it right, it’s a game-changer, saving us time, money, and maybe even the mental energy we waste stressing over things we don’t need to.
Enter Phia!
A platform with a mission that's two-fold:
Drop a link, image, or simply search for something (like "The Row Banana Bag"), and it’ll instantly show you all the resell options available across platforms, fulfilling all your shopping desires.
Add the Phia extension to your desktop, and as you browse, it’ll calculate whether it’s holding its value or if it’s time to look for a resale deal. There’s nothing better than a robot giving me the green light to buy something (and yes, I can confirm the banana bag is a good buy!).
As someone who embraces getting to know AI, I can promise this will save you both time and money, honey. Think of it like your personal assistant, your shopping genie.
So in the spirit of smart shopping, let’s look at street style inspo by some of the best.
Jennifer Lawrence
First up, we have the queen of New York City, J-Law. Half of her outfit is her killer personality, and the other half is either The Row or some epic vintage find. Lately, she’s been serving the perfect balance of minimalism meets I’m fun and gorgeous.
Not to mention her pregnancy style is probably the best we’ve ever seen.
Oh baby!

Hailey Bieber
This wouldn’t be a street style conversation without mentioning her. Love her or hate her, the girl has good shit—and she’s not afraid to flaunt it. My personal favorite? The perfect blend of highs and lows, like pairing an $8,000 fur coat with track pants.
Kendall Jenner
The dynamic duo—the pair we can't help but love to see especially in that little place called Assssspen. Enter Kendall, the girl with a wardrobe that’s effortlessly basic, yet still packs just the right amount of sexiness and girl-next-door charm.
The outfit below has already made its way into my cart.
Cindy Crawford
And then there were the 90s, a time these girls WISH they were as good as. I’ve always loved Cindy’s classic style. The Levi’s, the simple accessories—she embodies what the word "nostalgic" would feel like if it had a wardrobe. An unbeatable woman.

Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy
And then there’s the woman that put Tribeca on the map.
Think minimalist, but with sophistication that felt timeless. Her style was quiet, yet unforgettable—an impeccable balance of chic and cool without trying too hard.
Nothing like a little leopard to pick up your groceries.
Dua Lipa
Last but not least, Dua. The People’s Princess.
Okay, hear me out. Yes, sometimes she’s a total miss, but when it’s a hit she really hits. And if there were an energy I could bottle up and put into my wardrobe it’s her. I was lucky enough to be in her presence while in Jamaica back in 2023 and she oozes the fun fearless fashion vibe we all aspire to. Dua, call me—let’s make hits together.

Who’s your favorite? And how are we feeling about AI?
Let’s discuss.
Ciao, love you lots!

It's definitely the hunt of a perfect vintage find for me!
