Let's be honest, thrifting - especially online - is a jungle of links, open tabs, and oft-missed opportunities! If you’re anything like I am, and obsessively check your favorites on The RealReal, your heart does a little pitter patter when one of them is on sale - or, in equal measure, sinks a bit when one of them has sold.

Online scavenging is a personal hobby of mine, and now a byproduct of work itself, while we build Phia (cannot WAIT to bring it to my fellow shoppers). I have bombarded Sophia, my intrepid Phia co-founder with at least 6 secondhand finds this week debating whether I should pull the trigger. She’s like, “stop. You’re supposed to be working.” But…I AM!

Working or not,an hour of thrifting online yields a chaotic mix of hidden gems, overpriced trends, and listings that make you question everything. Like why, oh why would anyone list a dingy old dust bag for sale?

Cutting through the noise of the secondhand marketplace requires strategy. You have to know what you’re looking for, recognize quality when you see it, and, most importantly, move fast when you find “the one!”

TBH the fact that I can get a pair of Chanel boots for $550 - that I’ll have for the rest of my life / hopefully pass down to my daughter - means I’ll forever be shopping secondhand!
